A Trip To Dean Street For League Leaders

by Jeff King

It's an away day for Chester's youngsters this afternoon as they travel to Shildon AFC's Dean Street to take on the Northern Premier League East side's Reserve outfit.

On paper it looks like a great opportunity for United to take three points and maintain their lead at the top of the Wearside League. Especially taking into account the last time the two sides met.

That was back in November when a powerfully dominant display saw Chester take a 7 - 0 victory on the day at The Riverside. But, there will be no complacency from the league leaders who treat every opponent with the same respect.

The game will be on a grass pitch and United have some significant players missing from their match day squad. Goalkeeper Arthur Leblond, midfielders Taylor Robinson and Ryan Muldoon as well as forward Jay Gibson all miss out.

Mauro Asikaogu comes in between the posts with new signing Junior Ngassa also making his first appearance in the squad.

Since that poor day in November for Shildon they've gone unbeaten in the league with two wins and three draws in their last five games. They currently sit 12th in the Division with 26 points from 23 games and have scored 28 goals conceding 43.

The game at Dean Street, Shildon kicks off at 14:00pm.
