Match Preview : United (Home) v Billingham Town - Saturday 8th March 2025 - Ebac Northern League Division Two

by Jeff King

It’s been three weeks since we lost 3 - 2 to Jarrow FC here at The Ford Hub and two weeks since we played our last league game at Newcastle University where we came away with an excellent 3 - 1 victory.

The visitor's to "The Hub" on Saturday are Billingham Town who are having a very solid season sitting comfortably in 12th place in the table with 45 points from 35 games.

They’ve won 12 drawn 9 and lost 14 of those games scoring a very creditable 73 goals but also conceding 64.

One of their losses came on 27th September last year against United at Bedford Terrace who came away with a 2 – 1 win courtesy of goals from skipper Dylan Wilkinson and top scorer Stephen Siyanbola. Town's goal scorer was Harry Ord.

Billingham certainly have the strike power to cause Chester problems today with one of the brightest young strikers in the division Harry Close sitting on 17 league goals so far this season and John Stephenson with 14 and Kieran Stares with 13 supporting him well.

Their recent form shows them to be a team that are difficult to beat with 1 win, 4 draws and a single goal defeat to high-flying Yarm & Eaglescliffe their record in their last six league games.

Midweek results have seen United slip just outside the play-off picture and they go into the game in sixth place looking for the win to at least maintain that position and be ready to move up if any of their play-off rivals slip up.

Another tough game of Ebac Northern League Division Two football is in store for both sides with the usual kick-off time of 15:00pm scheduled.
