United finally broke their losing run in The League at home last Saturday winning their first game in seven attempts at The Ford Hub against Newcastle University 3 - 1.
It's a quick turnaround for the team as they return once again to their 2024/25 home to take on Darlington Town in another League game. Saturday's win took United to 13th place in the table one place above their opponents on Tuesday.
It meant three league wins on the bounce for United and four wins in all after last week's 4 - 1 Durham County FA Challenge Cup win over Hartlepool United. A great run and one that United are desperate to continue as the look to move higher.
Darlington Town have made a very solid start to life in The Northern League after eventually finding the wherewithal and facilities to be able to make the jump from a Wearside League that they dominated in recent years.
They currently sit in 14th place in the Division having played 12 games with a 4 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses record. Very symmetrical! They’ve scored 24 goals and conceded 22 and have 16 points. They haven’t though won for four games in the league and five games overall.
Last week they went out of the Durham Challenge Cup losing 3 – 0 at Ryton and then also lost last Saturday at Grangetown Boys Club 3 – 1. So, after a good start they’ve lost their way a little bit lately but have shown they belong in this league and will be determined to get back to winning ways tonight.
They also have one of the leading scorers in the division with Liam Jarvie having netted 10 of their 24 league goals whilst James Wilson and James Beauchamp have 4 each.
Kick-off as ever at The Ford Hub is 19:45pm and it would be great to see as many possible supporters there to encourage The Lads.
